Originally a performer, Jan founded his first band aged 15. In the late 1980s, he went on to play bass and guitar for numerous bands. In 1992, he moved to Hamburg and joined the power metal band, Gamma Ray. As one of the most prominent bands in the German heavy metal scene, Jan toured internationally and recorded two albums with the group. A multi-genre musician, he also founded the glam rock band, Electric and produced their debut album.
Throughout his performing career, Jan has also worked as a producer and songwriter. In 2003, he founded Rekorder Studio in St. Pauli, Hamburg – only 5 minutes from BIMM Hamburg! Specialising in all genres of rock, Jan has recorded over forty albums and specialises in recording live and in a single space.
Jan has also worked as a digital editor for artists such as Motörhead and Saxon, a backline technician for major German acts like Fanta 4 and Nena, and at various Hamburg venues as a Front of House Mixer.
