Gerd Bauder

Bass Lecturer

Gerd teaches Bass at BIMM Music Institute Hamburg. Born and raised in Mannheim, Gerd worked as a professional bassist in the mid-1990s and performed with artists such as Barbara Lahr, Lee Brown, Joan Orleans, Michael Koscharek, Cordula Hamacher and Hans Reffert.

Since 1999, he’s worked as a freelance Jazz and Pop musician, instrumental tutor and band coach. He’s performed live and recorded with Malia, Karl Bartos, MDR Sinfonieorchester, Fontaine Burnett, Tornado Rosenberg, Hans Reffert, Barbara Lahr and many more. He’s also toured internationally and played at Jazz Fest Wien, Montreux Jazz Festival, Reeperbahn Festival, Eurosonic Groningen, Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Enjoy Jazz, ZMF Freiburg, Festival Fragile Paris, Rock am Ring, Dubai Jazz Festival, Potsdamer Crossover Konzerte, Elbjazz, City of London Festival and Bundesvision Song Contest.

Gerd also has a strong background in music education and has been working as a private tutor and at various music schools since 2002. He has also been part of a Hamburg music charity, working with underprivileged and disabled children to develop and record their own original music.
