Caroline specialises in OPUS Arts: Outdoor Places and Unusual Spaces, the name of her recently formed company of which she is the Director; working to bring multi-disciplinary arts and music performances to the public in ways that will surprise and delight.
In 2013, on behalf of the city’s 14 major arts organisations, Caroline led on the event design of 4 Squares Weekender for Birmingham Hippodrome (AKA the Birmingham Weekender). The event is Birmingham’s largest arts festival – which Caroline was the Executive Producer for in 2015, and again in 2017, in a freelance capacity on behalf of Culture Central (the city’s cultural development agency).
In her freelance career, she has put the entire City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra on the concourse of New Street Station for a free pop-up concert, a piano on a tram for the Debussy Festival and has just delivered an all female musician takeover on the tram network for BBC Music Day.
In 2017, Caroline was asked to be the Event Director for the first ever ‘Concerts In The Park’ for Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council, where she devised the programme and management of the two-day greenfield programme for 10,000 people; returning to oversee the expanded 2018 event, with further outdoor Concerts in development. She has also produced Athlete’s Homecoming celebrations in Victoria Square .
Caroline oversees all aspects of event design and implementation including programming, fundraising, stakeholder relations, volunteer management, resourcing and contracting, technical and production requirements, marketing, press management and evaluation (to name a few!). She looks forward to sharing her experience with the BIMM cohort and creating future events with them.
