Dr Paul Rogers, Course Leader, Music Production

Dr Paul Rogers is a composer, producer & sound artist. His research interests include acoustic ecology and noise composition. Paul holds a PhD in Sound Composition and was previously awarded a Masters in Studio Composition from Goldsmiths University of London.

Steve Osbourne, Senior Lecturer, Studio Production

Steve started his career at Trident Studios before moving on to work as a remixer alongside Paul Oakenfold. Since then, he’s produced albums with New Order, U2, Happy Mondays, Elbow, Doves, Placebo and many more eminent artists.

Gary Charles, Music Production Lecturer

Gary is an interdisciplinary artist and electronic music producer, exhibiting work including moving image, sound art and performance. His solo work as The Static Hand has been released on a number of independent labels including remix work for Berlin-based imprint flash Recordings. He has also composed sound and music for artists, film, theatre and contemporary dance productions.

At BIMM Institute, we supply you with state-of-the-art facilities throughout your Music Production degree in Birmingham so you can take your skills to the ultimate level. And things don’t get much better than flexing your talent in our professional-level recording environment.

The dedicated studio control room features an array of analogue and digital equipment, such as an Audient ASP8024 analogue mixing desk, Pro Tools HD recording system, and numerous analogue and digital outboard processors and effects – exactly as you would find in a professional recording studio. The studio Apple Mac Pro is also equipped with all the industry-standard software packages such as Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Native Instruments, Melodyne and hundreds of third-party plugins.

We also have two Mac suites that offer 20 of the latest Apple Mac computers with all the industry-standard software installed, such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Native Instruments, Melodyne and hundreds of further third-party plugins and software instruments, In addition to the iMacs, we have Audient audio interfaces, controller keyboards and Ableton Push controllers so you can translate your performance into the software world.
