Orchards sign to Big Scary Monsters

26 April, 2018

BIMM Brighton alumni band Orchards recently announced the fantastic news of signing their first record deal. The Left Field Pop quartet have just penned a contract with Oxford-based independent record label ‘Big Scary Monsters’, which is home to other great acts as Gnarwolves, Gender Roles, La Dispute and Meat Wave.

The fantastic news comes hot on the heels of other great announcements for the band, such as live appearances at this years Arctangent Festival, The Great Escape and Truck Festival, plus an upcoming hometown support slot with fellow Math Rockers Rolo Tomassi.

As if that isn’t enough, the record deal announcement coincided with the release of the band’s latest single, ‘Luv U 2’, which sees them taking their unique brand of Math Pop to dizzy new heights.

Here’s what the band’s vocalist and frontwoman Lucy Evers had to say about striking the deal with Big Scary Monsters.

“One of the biggest goals on Orchards bucket list from the start was to, at the very least, be on BSM’s radar. So, when we were approached by them we couldn’t believe our luck. We had admired their roster for years and the possibility of being on it was insane.”

“At the birth of the band they were a perfect fit for our sound. As the band has grown, so has the music we make. I think maybe we aren’t an obvious choice but it felt like a totally natural progression! They are such a supportive label and they have taught us (or at least me) to be slightly less surprised when we receive positivity and to really trust what we do. Because people seem to like it! Since signing with them we have been working non stop behind the scenes to give people what they’ve been asking for… I can’t say much more than that but I can say there will be more.”

We’re incredibly pleased that these young BIMM Brighton graduates have achieved such a significant step in their career with a label they clearly have great respect for. Remember to keep an eye on the band’s news feed for updates on what is sure to be a brilliant year for them.
