It’s the last Monday in March, and of course (just like every other Monday) it’s time for Track of the Week! This week we caught up with BIMM London‘s CHA:DY.
What was the inspiration behind your track?
I was inspired by life, my life, what I am going through: being a student, with 2 jobs, trying to get a music career, a social life and some sleep! I was trying to do everything at the same time, keeping it going, and putting a lot of pressure on myself. I am sure a lot of people will understand that feeling, and I just wanted to say that we should always try and work hard, even though we fall down, because we’d learn something and for the victory of standing back up on our feet.
What did your songwriting process involve?
I had some chords in my head and came up with this particular bass line, and was obsessed with it! So I sat down on my keyboard and sang lyrics on top.
What things do you do differently to other bands?
I don’t think I am doing anything really different from other bands, because there are thousands different songwriting processes etc, but I’d like to think that my voice and my sound is different.
Can you describe your sound in three words?
The 3 words I would choose are : groovy, moody and emotional.
I don’t even know if these words match but that’s how I’d describe my sound.
Have you channeled any artist in particular on this track?
Not really, but production wise I wanted something a bit more electronic than my debut single ‘I Want It all’, which is ballad.
What’s the best thing about studying at BIMM?
The best thing is definitely the masterclasses, being able to meet inspiring artists that have changed the music industry, it is an incredible opportunity!
What’s the best bit of music advice you’ve been given?
The best music advice I’ve been given is not really conventional, but anyway… It was ‘do not cock block ideas’ of the people you collaborate with! Haha, Because from ideas you don’t like, amazing things can come!
Whats next for CHA:DY?
My EP will come out in May 2017, and I am so excited to share it and to know what people think!
