Somali-born NibZz Jamal and Dublin native Adam McNamara have been chosen to study Diplomas in Music & Audio Production and Music Business respectively after their cases were carefully considered by representatives from BIMM Dublin, IMRO and RTE 2FM.

IMRO have stated that the new Diploma in Music Business is a ‘game changer for the Irish music scene‘, which will pave the way for future entrepreneurs to find employment in a variety of fields. Course modules such as Music Promotion and Marketing, Artist Management, Tour Management, Physical and Digital Music Distribution, e-commerce in the Music Industry, Music Publishing and Recording, Live Music Events and Touring. The course is ideal for those with no experience of the industry and who wish to use it as a foundation for further study or entrepreneurship.

We caught up with the scholarship recipients for a quick Q&A about their fantastic news.

NibZz Jamal received a scholarship for Music & Audio Production

Where are you from?

I’m a Somali-born, Irish-raised, west Dublin Lucanite.

Why have you chosen to study Music and Audio Production?

It’s feels like the natural progression from where I’m at presently in my career to where I want to be a year from now. I believe that to be fully immersed in a learning environment such as BIMM with the facilities they offer and the calibre of tutor they provide can only accelerate that progression. I’m hungry for knowledge and eager to test myself. Music brings people together and I want to be a part of that.

What does this scholarship mean to you?

EVERYTHING!! I’ve never had much in terms of material things and I never felt particularly drawn to the academic. But I believe the latter only true because I had yet to find the thing I absolutely wanted to learn about. Music IS that thing. 2FM is our national broadcaster and is at the forefront of the Irish music scene. Their entire ethos is about championing new Irish talent they believe in. This award gives me the confidence that I can become a part of that and I really hope to repay their generosity by doing just that. Thank you 2FM.

Adam McNamara received a scholarship for a Diploma in Music Business

Where are you from?

I’m from Palmerstown in Dublin.

Why have you chosen to study Music Business?

I chose to study Music Business because I feel artists have so much to do weather it be preforming,Booking,Recording, Emails etc, I feel that this restricts the main focus of a Artist and where there soul focus should lie which is on Creating Music to present to the world so I really wanted to be apart of creating the space and time for that to happen aswell as helping and pushing a artist to achieve there aims and goals.

Receiving the scholarship from IMRO for me has been a massive relief and a great honor. The scholarship has giving me more focus and more confidence knowing that people who have read my application can see promise and the determination

I have to succeed in the course and my future in the Music Industry.

We wish both NibZz and Adam the best of luck with their Diplomas.
