Senior Lecturer, Music Business
Jonathan teaches Music Business at BIMM Institute Manchester. He has over a decade of direct industry experience and has worked in the fields of music production, label management and club promotion. Under his Diesler project, Jonathan has produced four artist albums, remixed over 50 tracks, and performed as a DJ and with a nine-piece band in more than 50 countries. He has produced and written for six other acts and was nominated for the Gilles Peterson/BBC Radio 1 ‘Album Of The Year’ in 2006, releasing music on labels including Tru Thoughts, Ninja Tune and Sunday Best in the process. He is currently resident DJ at the ‘You Dig?’ night at Soup Kitchen, Manchester – one of The Guardian's top ten clubs in the country.
Jonathan also works as label manager for Here & Now Recordings, overseeing international music sales, marketing, licensing and label events. It’s his duty to highlight the label’s music catalogue to worldwide licensing partners, music supervisors, media agencies, radio hosts, magazines and blogs, with previous successes including tracks being licensed to Sony and supported on BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music and Mojo Magazine. Jonathan can also be heard regularly on BBC 6 Music, providing the '6 in 6 on 6' mix for funk and soul DJ, Craig Charles.
