David Sheppard

Lecturer, Music Journalism *

David Sheppard teaches Music Journalism across the BIMM group. He has been a music and culture editor and writer since 1995. He is currently editor of The Saatchi Gallery Magazine: Art and Music. His freelance work has appeared in everything from The Observer and Q to Literature Alive and College Music Journal, and he has been a regular monthly contributor to MOJO magazine for two decades.

Also a respected author, among David's books is 'On Some Faraway Beach: The Life and Times of Brian Eno', published by Orion in 2008, a work, according to The Guardian, "that sets new standards for rock biography."!

David is also an experienced publicity writer, having penned artist press releases and campaign texts for high profile clients including John Cale, Charlotte Gainsboug, Moby, Stereolab and Martin Creed. When not writing about music, David is making and releasing it, latterly in the guise of Snow Palms, a modern composition project for electronics and tuned percussion with several releases on the Village Green label.
