Al Cherry
Guitar Lecturer
Al is an active freelance guitarist and tutor with many years’ experience in live and studio work and TV appearances. His career began with a scholarship awarded by Fender, before he went on to gain a first class honours degree in Music from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London in 1998. Al has several years’ experience of playing in West End musicals, including Rent, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Blood Brothers.
He’s a frequent performer at Ronnie Scott's and other leading London venues, and has toured across Europe, America and Japan with artists including Cat Stevens, Paul Young, Percy Sledge, Sharleen Spiteri, Beverley Knight, Kid Creole, Rumer, Paloma Faith, Carleen Anderson, Katherine Jenkins, Marti Pellow and Lisa Stansfield. As an educator, Al has over 20 years' experience of music tuition, and has taught guitar and general musicianship across all ages.
