Clearing Accommodation Support Bursary

We understand that Clearing offers come later in the application cycle. This can disrupt your initial plans for travel and accommodation, making it challenging to find accommodation at short notice, especially if university halls are not available.

To support you, we offer a Clearing Accommodation Support Bursary of £1000, paid directly into your bank account. This bursary can help with initial moving costs (e.g., rental deposit, van hire, petrol costs, agents’ fees, furniture) or the costs associated with a long commute (e.g., public transit fares, petrol costs, car maintenance/insurance).

For the bursary, we define a ‘long’ commute as a typical journey time of 30 minutes or more, one-way, under normal conditions. Students whose home address is at least this distance from their campus are eligible for the bursary.

We have 100 bursaries available, allocated to eligible applicants on a first-come-first-served basis. Once the 100 bursaries have been awarded, additional funding will not be available.

Funds will be paid once you have accepted your place and enrolled on your course. We will maintain a waiting list (in first-come-first-served order) in case any awarded applicants decide not to enrol with BIMM.

If you are eligible for the Fair Access Fund, you may still apply for that funding separately until 11 October 2024.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Clearing Accommodation Support Bursary of £1000, students must:

  • Apply through Clearing and be accepted to a course at one of our UK campuses;
  • Be a UK resident paying the Home fee rate;
  • Live at least a 30-minute commute (one-way) from their campus;*
  • Be among the first 100 eligible applicants for the Bursary.

*We will ask applicants to provide evidence of the distance between their home address and campus. Acceptable evidence could include:

  • Driving directions provided by, e.g., Google Maps or Waze showing a typical journey time of at least 30 minutes one-way;
  • Public transit journey planning from either the relevant local provider(s) or Google Maps/Waze/a similar service showing a typical journey time of at least 30 minutes one-way.

Application process

Applicants will be informed that the Clearing Accommodation Support Bursary is available, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

After receiving a Clearing offer, applicants can apply for the bursary by filling in a form supplied by our admissions team.

Other Forms of Support

Recipients of the Clearing Accommodation Support Bursary are also eligible for the Fair Access Fund, if they meet the criteria. Neither the Clearing Accommodation Support Bursary nor the Fair Access Fund affects eligibility for student loans.
